Everest at 8,848 m and 29,028 ft high in May 29th 1953.

Classic Trail to Everest Base Camp trekking an interesting and scenic adventure where you will be within both areas of Everest region around Solu and Khumbu districts, where trekkers at present seldom use this trail due to the airstrip at Lukla.

Whatever the choice is, this will be an interesting and memorable adventure walking on quiet trail often visited by trekkers, where you can enjoy the scenic walk in tranquility of clean and pure country air exploring Solu Sherpa’s and other hill tribes villages in the shade of towering peaks.

Our adventure ‘Classic Trail to Everest Base Camp trekking’ starts with an exciting overland drive to reach at Jiri a hill town (famously known as Switzerland of Nepal), from here heading further to our starting point of trek at Shivalya village located at Ramechap area within the reach of Solu districts.

Walk leads past lovely villages of Bhandar-Kenja and Sete to reach at Junbesi a large Sherpa village after crossing a scenic Lamjura pass of 3,530 m high and then slowly our walk approaches higher region of Khumbu above Nunthala and Kharikhola to Surkhe villages.

On reaching higher Khumbu area on the mainstream trail to Everest base camp as the walk leads with stunning views of snow capped peaks and through nice villages of Phakding-Monjo to reach at famous and colorful Namche Bazaar, where you can enjoy the best of Namche with its super views of Everest-Lhotse and Amadablam with other chain of peaks.

After a rest and acclimatization days at Namche heading towards beautiful Thyangboche with time to explore its interesting monastery surrounded within enchanting woodlands and high peaks with Mt. Everest.

Finally our walk leads beyond tree lines to enter a barren and windswept country of arctic zone at Everest base camp after walking past Pangboche, Dingboche and Lobuche, enjoy the moment at base camp overlooking tumbling Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers within the giant peaks of Nuptse,Lho-la, Lingtrin-Pumori and Everest.

After an enjoyable and memorable time at Everest base camp return journey leads at Lukla for a short early morning flight to Kathmandu with grand services of Awesome Nepal Treks guides and staff.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest

Day 03: Drive to Shivalaya 1,770 m via Jiri town 1,900 - 07 hrs journey.

Day 04: Trek to Bhandar (Chyangma) 2,195 m - 05 hrs.

Day 05: Trek to Sete 2,575 m - 06 hrs.

Day 06: Trek to Junbesi 2,700 m via Lamjura-la 3,530 m -06 hrs.

Day 07: Trek to Nunthala (Manidingma) 2,220 m - 06 hrs.

Day 08: Trek to Bupsa Danda 2,250 m via Khair khola - 06 hrs.

Day 09: Trek to Surkhe 2,300 m - 06 hrs.

Day 10: Trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 05 hrs.

Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.

Day 12: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

Day 13: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m - 05hrs.

Day 14: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m - 05hrs.

Day 15: Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs.

Day 16: Trek to Everest Base Camp 5364 m and return to Gorakshep 5,180 m - 06 hrs.

Day 17: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Pheriche 4,240m - 05 hrs.

Day 18: Trek to Thyangboche - 05 hrs.

Day 19: Trek to Monjo 2,860m - 06 hrs.

Day 20: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.

Day 21: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.

Day 22: In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.

Day 23: International departure homeward bound.

 

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, received by our staff and then transfer to your respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed our guide briefs with information regarding Classic Trail to Everest Base Camp trekking, hotels, lodge on route with do and don’ts with evening group welcome dinner.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
A free day in Kathmandu to relieve you from jetlag on long flights, our morning sightseeing tour starts after breakfast in the hotel, where you will be engrossed with tour around world heritage sites around Kathmandu visiting Old Durbar (palace) Square, and ancient stupa of Swayambhunath, after a tour head back to hotel with preparation for Classic Trail to Everest trekking next early morning.

(other options on tour of Hindu Holy Temple of Pashupatinath dedicated to Lord Shiva and Bouddhanath large Buddhist Stupa the area also known as Little Tibet)

Day 03:  Drive to Shivalaya 1,770 m via Jiri town 1,900 - 07 hrs journey.
Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trekking starts with an early morning drive to Jiri and beyond to Shivalaya on reaching a lovely Chairkot town, drive leads downhill to Tama Kosi River and then on winding to reach at Jiri town (known as the Switzerland of Nepal).

After a short break in Jiri continue drive further east on a rough road to Shivalaya village for overnight stop a nice village located on a valley by the river.

Day 04: Trek to Bhandar (Chyangma) 2,195 m - 05 hrs.
From Shivalaya first day walk starts into farm villages with short ups and downhill and through forested area, walk climbs over a small pass of Deurali, then downhill to Bhandar or Chyangma village for overnight stop, a nice valley with Buddhist monuments of Stupa here the villagers are mixed tribe of people Newar-Magar-Chettries and Tamang, but predominately with Sherpa majority.

Day 05: Trek to Sete 2,575 m - 06 hrs.
Morning walk leads through farm terraces and villages heading downhill to reach at Kenja village, a nice village situated beneath hills of Lamjura and Pikey danda with views of Numbur peaks, from Kenja, a steep climb to Sete village for overnight stop, from here onward air gets much cooler with alpine temperatures.

Day 06: Trek to Junbesi 2,700 m via Lamjura-la 3,530 m -06 hrs.
Morning walk heading higher towards Lamjura-la pass with steep winding climb for sometimes within beautiful forest of tall rhododendron, pines, oak and fir trees past small scattered farm villages and terraces, then reaching on top of Lamjura pass with a big white Buddhist stupa and few lodges, here with a brief stop then on downhill through cool forest to reach at the base in Toc-Toc village. From this small farm village walk is pleasant on winding path to Jumbesi, a lovely and large Sherpa village with an interesting old monastery and a high school built by Sir Edmund Hillary Trust.

Day 07: Trek to Nunthala (Manidingma) 2,220 m - 06 hrs.
After an interesting time and overnight at Junbesi, morning walk leads up on gradual winding path with first glimpse of Mt. Everest and other peaks of Khumbu and Everest area, after catching the mountain views walk downhill to a river, on crossing a bridge with short climb to reach at another nice village at Ringmo for possible lunch stops.

From Ringmo, heading higher on gradual uphill into forested areas of pines and rhododendron trees then reaching another pass at Takshindu hill top of above 3,070 m high.

At the top with few tea houses with Buddhist monuments of Mani Stupa and chortens offers views of Numbur (Dudh Kunda Himal), Kusum Kangguru, Thamersarkhu and Kantega peaks towards further North directions.

From Takshindu our journey continues to a long descend towards Nunthala via Takshindo village and its old monastery; walk continues downhill through cool shade of forest to reach at Nunthala village, also named as Manidingma a large hill village with Rai and Sherpa communities.

Day 08: Trek to Bupsa Danda 2,250 m via Khair khola - 06 hrs.
From here temperature gets cooler getting closer to Khumbu / Everest area, morning walk with downhill to a bridge over Dudh Kosi River, crossing the river climb uphill to Jubing village, from here an hour uphill to Kharikhola, a large Sherpa and Magar village, after Khari-khola towards high ridge of Bupsa hill, crossing river with steep climb for an hour to Bupsa for overnight stop, located on a ridge offering grand views of rolling hills and valleys.

Day 09: Trek to Surkhe 2,300 m - 06 hrs.
From Bupsa climb through forested area with much bird life of pheasant and magpie, walk carries on climbing above Kharte Dande at 3,880m leading higher above Dudh Kosi River, on reaching at Puiyan village for lunch, after Puiyan walk is moderate with view of Lukla town and the airstrip, the last leg of the walk descend to Surkhe village for overnight stop, Surkhe located just an hour below Lukla.

Day 10: Trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 05 hrs.
From Surkhe village to Phakding village as the walk leads towards mainstream trekking trail where it joins at Choplung before Phakding an hour downhill from Lukla, as the walk leads past Sherpa farm villages, a nice and pleasant walk with few short ups overlooking beautiful views along the walk to Phakding village located by Dudh Kosi a glacial River.

Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.

After a nice morning, walk continues crossing bridges over Dudh Kosi River passing several interesting villages of Toc-Toc, Bhenkar and Monjo arriving at Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate, from here on the river bed for few hours and after the last bridge a steep uphill to Namche Bazaar, at Namche with facilities of good restaurant, pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.

Day 12: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
A perfect place for rest day for proper acclimatization before heading higher area, morning a short hike to Everest View Hotel or walk up on top a hill of Namche for views of Everest, Amadablam and adjoining peaks, visit the museum with wide information of the Khumbu areas.

Day 13: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m - 05hrs.

From Namche on gradual scenic path with downhill to Imjatse river at Phunge-Tenga for lunch, and then uphill through rhododendron, pines, firs tree forest with views of snowcapped peaks.

On reaching Thyangboche visit famous Buddhist monastery with magnificent panorama of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Thamasarku, Kwande and majestic Amadablam.
Afternoon with time for tour of the monastery, which was burnt by accidental fire in 1991 at present back into normal form, where you witness young monks and elderly priest and Lama on evening prayer.

Day 14: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m - 05hrs.

Morning downhill walk for few hours over Imjatse River, after the bridge walk on an open country where tree lines fades for few short juniper and  dwarf rhododendron bushes, uphill for a while to reach at Pangboche village at 3,900 meters. Last permanent village before Dingboche and beyond, from here a slow climb to Somara for lunch and continue walk with climb to Dingboche village for overnight stop, located in Imjatse valley with panorama of mountains.

Day 15: Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs.

After a great rest at Dingboche morning walk with steep climb for an hour commanding excellent views, and then on gentle trail to Thugla for lunch where Khumbu glacier melts into a raging river, here trail from Pheriche joins after a break a steep climb for an hour to Thulga pass, with stone memorials of unfortunate climbers who died climbing Mt. Everest, Lhotse and other high mountains. From here a nice pleasant walk brings to Lobuche for overnight stop.

Day 16: Trek to Everest Base Camp 5364 m and return to Gorakshep 5,180 m - 06 hrs.

Today reach the highlight of this adventure at Everest Base Camp, walk for few hours with short steep climb in between over glacier and moraine, reaching Gorakshep, beneath Mt. Pumori and Kalapathar.

Walk continues towards Everest Base Camp, at base camp enjoy the view of notorious Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers, after a grand time with experience of a lifetime adventure at base camp retrace the journey back to Goarkshep for overnight halt.

Day 17: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Pheriche 4,240m - 05 hrs.
Early morning hike on top Kalapathar at 5,545 meters, highest point of this adventure with marvelous views of mountains including Mt. Everest at mere distance, after a great scenic moment descend to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue walk to Thugla, then downhill to Pheriche around windy valley with nice scenic walk to reach at Pheriche for overnight stop.
Pheriche with 10-15 nice lodges with a health post of HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association)

Day 18: Trek to Thyangboche - 05 hrs.

Return journey is much easier losing heights every hours, walking downhill with few short ups to Pangboche and then to the bridge with two 2 hours climb to Thyangboche for overnight stop.
Day 19: Trek to Monjo 2,860m - 06 hrs.
After a great time descend to Imjatse River, with steep climb for an hour to Sanasa, from here on gradual path with short ups and downs to Namche Bazaar, a break here and then walk back to Dudh Kosi river valley and to Monjo for overnight stop.
Day 20: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.

Morning walk reaching at Phakding from here retrace the journey back to Lukla with last climb, on reaching Lukla celebrate last night dinner with fellow trekkers and staff.
Day 21: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff transfers you back to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 22: In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.
A spare day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay and cancellation due to unfavorable bad weather which might occur, as the Himalayan weather can be unpredictable sometimes if all goes well have a free day or sightseeing tour of Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.

Day 23: International departure homeward bound.
Your last day in amazing Nepal in the land of Himalayan wonders, after wonderful experience and fond memories of Classic Trail to Everest Base Camp trekking, our staff transfer you to airport as per your time for international flight for your final departure towards homeward bound.
