Upper Mustang Trek, a unique adventure leads you on world highest and magnificent landscapes which is actually an extension of huge Tibetan plateau, where you can soak with the local interesting culture of ancient heritage, where the Mustang people have strong bond and connection with Tibet since hundred of centuries.
Upper Mustang Trek leads you with fascinating and exciting where our guide will feed you with full information of the area of travel, as this adventure starts with the scenic sweeping flight from picturesque Pokhara, blessed with natural beauty of high green hills, mountains, and lakes. On reaching Jomsom the headquarter town of Mustang district, our walk begins heading North West on the dry and arid plateau within high mountains of Dhaulagiri-Nilgiri and Mustang Himal, where walk leads beneath beautiful eroded red cliffs and canyons passing interesting villages full of old culture and traditions with rows of prayer walls and exploring its monasteries.
As the walking progress heading higher crossing over few scenic high passes of Lola and Dhakmar to reach once and a former forbidden kingdom of Lo-Manthang where an area was ruled by Raja / king monarch since ancient times.In Lo-Manthang with time to explore the surrounding areas and monasteries including former king palaces in the backdrop of snow-capped peaks.After a great enjoyable time with lifetime experience heading back at Jomsom for the flight to Pokhara and towards Kathmandu, where this wonderful adventure to Upper Mustang Trek concludes.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport, received by our staff and then transfer to your respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed our guide briefs with information regarding Upper Mustang Trekking, lodge, camping on the route with do and don’ts with evening group welcome dinner.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
A free day in Kathmandu to relieve you from jetlag on long flights, our morning sightseeing tour starts after breakfast in the hotel, where you will be engrossed with tour around world heritage sites around Kathmandu visiting Old Durbar (palace) Square, and ancient stupa of Swayambhunath, after a tour head back to hotel with preparation for Upper Mustang Trekking.
(other options on the tour of Hindu Holy Temple of Pashupatinath dedicated to Lord Shiva and Bouddhanath large Buddhist Stupa the area is also known as Little Tibet)
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 950m - 06 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.
Morning travel by private coach or in tourist bus (depending upon the size of the group) with an exciting overland drive on main Kathmandu to Pokhara highway, leading through Himalayan foothills, on reaching Pokhara transfer to respective hotels by the beautiful Phewa Lake with the afternoon free for short walks. (Options by Air 30 minutes scenic flight to Pokhara).
Day 04: Morning Flight to Jomsom 2,700 and trek to Kagbeni - 04 hrs.
After a wonderful stop at Pokhara, depart from the hotel for an early morning short scenic flight to Jomsom, during airborne views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains and then reaching Jomsom small airstrip, located on the shelf of Kali-Gandaki River.
Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang district after Jomsom first day trek begins on Kali-Gandaki river valley around the windswept country. Afternoon time carries heavy wind, after few hours of a great walk with super views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris and ending our first day walk at Kagbeni village for an overnight stop. Kagbeni a windswept Tibetan like a village which is the starting and ending point of Upper Mustang, located on an old Himalayan Caravan Salt Trade route of Nepal and Tibet.
Day 05: Trek to Chele 3,050m - 06 hrs.
Morning walk leads on the uphill trail into a canyon and high red eroded cliff edge, then following upper Kali Gandaki River upstream, around unique landscapes of cliff wall in-between walking trails. This nice walk with views leads to our overnight stop at Chele village, a moderate size settlement.
Day 06: Trek to Geling 3,540 m - 05 hrs.
From Chele (spelled as Tsele also), morning walk begins with a climb to Gyakar village, and from here trek around dry and barren landscapes to reach at Samar village, one of the lovely looking villages of Mustang area.
After Samar village with short stops walk to Bhena and then leading with a steep climb to a ridge top of Yamda La pass at 3,860 meters high, offering the grand vista of Mustang area with high mountains of Mt. Dhaulagiri.From here on down-hill to the overnight stop at Gelling village via Syangboche village.
Day 07: Trek to Tsarang (Charang) 3,560 m - 06 hrs.
Morning visit old Geling monastery and explore the Buddhist mani prayer wheels propelled with water power, after monastery tour trek towards Ghami village, and then leading to cross Ghaymi Khola (stream) walk leads following a long and interesting line of Mani walls (holy prayer stone) from here walk to Dhakmar village.After a few hours of pleasant walk reaching at Tsarang village surrounded by large fields of crops like buckwheats for overnight stop and visit of Tsarang old monastery.
Day 08: Trek to Lo-Manthang 3,700 m - 04 hrs.
Today a short day walk to Lo –Manthang our main destination of this classic journey to the walled city (actually a large village) guarding this city / village surrounded by the high wall. At one time stood as a forbidden kingdom after monarchy rule ended in Nepal few past decades, morning walk starts crossing a steel bridge, and then to Marang village. From this village climb to reach a scenic ridge top, coming across several chortens and mani stones, between Tsarang and on Lo Manthang trail with grand views of arid landscapes in the shade of Nilgiri, Tilicho and Bhrikuti peaks. The walk leads to a climb over Lo La pass at 3,950 meters with first views of Lo Manthang walled city and its fort like a village. From here descend to the bottom of the pass and on the nice trail to reach at Lo Manthang for two nights stop.
Day 09: In Lo-Manthang for acclimatization and local hike.
Lo Manthang highest overnight stop of this journey, with time to explore this fascinating village with old Tibetan like houses enclosed within the great high wall, visit historical and cultural center the main attraction of Lo-Manthang. The four main monasteries are Namgyal Gompa, Champa Lakhang (God House), Red Thubchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the great Entrance Hall. Advance permission required to enter king’s palace to visit the interior of the old palace and to grant an audience with former king or Raja of Mustang if possible.
Day 10: Trek to Dhakmar 3,810 m - 06 hrs.
After an interesting time in Lo-Manthang, trek southwest on herder’s trails, up to a side valley to the Chogo La (4,325m/14,190ft). Then traverse around a grassy valley before descending through a gully to cross the Tsarang Khola and climb to Ghar Gompa (House Temple): a 1,200-year-old monastery; particularly famous for its collection of painted carved stones – framed on the monastery walls. The trail then climbs a ridge and crosses a valley to a cairn at 4,170m/13,680ft. Continue across alpine meadows before descending through a rough gully between towering walls of red rock to the large village of Drakmar (red cliffs). Numerous caves dot the cliff walls.
Day 11: Trek to Shyangmochen 3,806 m - 06 hrs.
Today’s trail descends alongside a stream, past the walled village fields before climbing a ridge, dropping once more and rising to Upper Ghemi. Walk down to Lower Ghemi, then gradually contour up to the Nyi La (4,020m/13,190ft). Descend into the Gelling Valley but follow the high trail above the village to Jaite, Chhungar, and Tama Gaon. Zigzag down a rocky canyon to a stream then climb to a large chorten – and the Gelling trail near the ridge below the Shyangmochen La. Summit, then walk down to Shyangmochen.
Day 12: Trek to Tsusang 2,980 m - 06 hrs.
Slowly this fascinating walk comes to an end after a short climb to Syangboche village, and to Yamda La with grand views, then downhill to Bhena and Samar villages. The walk leads by a stream passing Gyakar and Chele villages and finally ending this nice walk at Tsusang village.
Day 13: Trek to Kagbeni 2,830 m - 05 hrs.
Morning walks back on the same trail to Kagbeni village after an interesting and exciting time around Upper Mustang, a nice and pleasant walk brings reaches at Kagbeni village before concluding the walk at Jomsom.
Day 14: Trek to Jomsom 2,715 m - 04 hrs.
Today our last and final day of this beautiful Upper Mustang trekking, morning walk starts on the same route to Jomsom town, after retracing Kaligandaki river valley trail to reach in Jomsom and overnight in a nice fine lodge. Jomsom area from Kagbeni to Larjung is famous for delicious apples and products cider, brandy and juice. Celebrate last night dinner with staff and among other teams.
Day 15: From Jomsom morning fly to Pokhara.
Last day of this amazing journey around Mustang concludes with a short scenic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara a lovely touristic city, overnight in Pokhara a scenic spot with many nice hotels by the serene Phewa Lake, where Annapurna Himal reflects on its pristine calm waters.

Day 16: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
Morning a scenic drive to back Kathmandu with grand memories of this fantastic and exciting time on Upper Mustang trekking, an interesting six hour brings you back in Kathmandu with the afternoon free at leisure for shopping souvenirs.

Day 17: International departure homeward bound.
Your last day in amazing Nepal, the land of Himalayan wonders after wonderful experience and fond memories of Upper Mustang Trekking around Far North West Himalaya region, our staff transfer you to the airport as per your time for the international flight for your final departure toward homeward bound.

Requirements for Annapurna area high altitude Treks:
Mustang Himalaya region one of the most popular and listed as world Top Ten adventure destinations by several leading Travel Guide Books and magazines including Lonely Planet.
Mustang region offers varied trekking routes from moderate, adventurous to challenging walks that involve high passes above 5,000 meters.
For moderate treks for few days to a week where all trekkers should be physically fit and in sound health, as most of the longer treks takes from 5 hrs to 8 hrs of maximum walks.
Beginners and all interested people can join in Annapurna area trekking for few days or more, truly suitable for family-school / college groups as well to corporate executives, where on this trip requires minimum gear staying overnights in local nice lodges.
Most of the region in Himalayan where walks leads ups and downhill with some gradual portions depending upon your choice of trips and interest. For adventurous walks involves high altitude walks from above 2,500 to 5,000 meters high, with some gradual trails with ups and downhill with the touch of high altitude that makes it's more adventurous.
Challenging and demanding treks which leads you away from main villages in the pure wilderness on the off beaten tracks for some days in complete isolation in the harmony of giant mountains and in the tranquil environment and crossing high passes of above 5,000 m. Where trekkers should be fitted with sound medical background and with experience in outdoor activities and some exercise to join in Adventurous and Challenging treks within high Annapurna Himalaya or around remote destinations around Nepal Himalaya.
Passport & Visa Information:
Nepal visa is the easiest visa to obtain; you may buy your Nepal visa at your nearest Nepalese Embassy/ Consulate or Mission offices abroad or buy this upon on arrival to Kathmandu international airport as per your convenient. You have to have 2 passport size photographs, Visa fees in US$ & valid passport at least for 6 months valid at the starting of the trip.
Visa rules apply to all wide world travelers apart from Indian nationality, the transit visa is provided for foreign nationality for 3 days. Visa must be obtained for staying over the initial period of three days. Currently, foreign national can obtain a Nepalese visa from the following border.

On each trip, led by Trek / Group Leader with assistance leader or head guide / Sirdar all our arrangement well planned for safe travel providing insurance to all our field staff and guides including porters.
There is no way to prepare for altitude other than to spend time at altitude with acclimatization days. Being in very good physical condition will help ameliorate some of the exhaustion that people often feel, but it will not prevent altitude caused medical problems such as Acute Mountain Sickness.
Our itinerary designed with a high degree of awareness on AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) in mind and to ensure a comfortable and safe adventure trek in the Himalayas. Staying well and hydrated and rest will help a lot.
The maximum elevation on the trek at ABC 4,130m above sea level. Obviously, this altitude range is high, but this takes slowly as walk starts from 820m to various altitude range with enough days of good daily walks to get acclimatize on the route before reaching higher ground.
The other trek that involves high altitude is around or Annapurna Circuit which takes you to the highest point at 5,416 on top Thorong-la pass with downhill towards 3,800 m at Muktinath, but on this trips walks gaining heights slowly and gradually with enough time to get acclimatize with the rest day before heading higher level.
Travel Insurance & Vaccination:
All visitors must obtain personal travel insurance to join us for our Himalayan trips. You must be having a travel insurance which must cover helicopter evacuation, trip cancellation and medical expenses. And it is suggested that you buy your insurance policy from your homeland country before traveling as it is difficult buying local travel insurance policy for foreigners in Nepal.
Vaccination is required to plan for your trip to Nepal but it is not a must to have a thing to come, but highly suggested. Your doctor will have the information on vaccination you would require to the country you will be traveling.
Hepatitis A, Japanese Encephalitis, Polio, Rabies, Tetanus, Typhoid, and Malaria etc. are the recommended vaccination for traveling to Nepal.
Meals and Accommodations:
While in Kathmandu and in Pokhara, your accommodation is at the 3-star deluxe hotel that comforts your stays in the city and while in the trek, your accommodation is at Mt. Lodge and Guest House which is clean and comfortable. Our entire accommodation is at twin share unless stated but single supplement accommodation is also available on personal request at the additional cost of US$- 200.
In the city, only breakfast is included on the offered trip itinerary but while in trek full board of meals is included (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, and Tea- Coffee).
We provide meals from local tea- house/ Lodge on route treks, breakfast and dinner are to be provided from the same tea- house/ guest house we would overnight but lunch would be on the walk to our designated destination with the overnight stop.
Foods provided depend on the availability of lodges and season-wise in general providing you with Nepalese foods (Dal Bhat), Tibetan fried bread, various soups, Momo (steamed dumplings), potatoes, pasta and even a version of pizza! So, overall you have a different choice of food on the trek.
Best trekking Seasons:
Nepal has two best seasons for Annapurna Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit Trekking, we will inform and suggest you choose the right time of the year as far as possible to enjoy this trip with best weather condition.
Spring: - (March, April, May) - Best warmest time to trek. Rhododendron flowers in bloom- excellent trails and clear skies, best visibility. Good Temperature, the warmest weather of the year.
Autumn: (Mid-September, October, and November) - Excellent trails, clear blue skies, best visibility. Best Time to Trek
Winter Months: - (December, January, and February) are also good, but it’s obviously colder. You have to be prepared for this. It is up to you to plan this trek at this cold time or not.
Summer: Monsoon, so rain and visibility can be a big issue (from Mid-June, July, and August). We do not suggest you this time for the trek unless you are botanical student or lovers of green and flowers which will be the right time but very wet especially around southern Annapurna areas than northern side.
Support staff (porter):
Our porter is fully equipped and insured for each trip they are undertaking with us. As you know that we are very sincere with the porter issues and their situation while on trek thus we make sure that our porter is fully prepared for the trip. We are closely working with the International Porter Progress Association for the welfare and befit for the touristic porters. The maximum load carried by our porter is 20 to 25 KG maximum so be sure that your trekking bag so not load more than 12 KG.

The following are what we advise you obtain in the way of equipment and gear before trekking in Nepal, and are meant to keep you mobile and comfortable in a range of expected weather conditions. Trekking gear can be rented or purchased in Kathmandu or Pokhara at cheaper prices, there is plenty of choice and our staff can assist you with the necessary arrangements. Except for your day pack, all luggage will be carried by porters. There is an allowance of 33lbs/15kg per person. Additional personal items not needed for the trekking portion of the trip can be checked in the hotel’s storage room for no extra cost.
