Tilicho Lake Trekking truly an overwhelming adventure leading you on picturesque Annapurna circuit mainstream trekking trails for some days, and then into complete wilderness in the harmony of mountains and pristine environment of rugged hills, snow capped peaks and scenic turquoise color Tilicho Lake.After an enjoyable moment at beautiful Tilicho Lake and then heading towards our highest point of the adventure back towards scenic Annapurna Circuit trail on route Jomsom town in Mustang via high and picturesque Thorong-La Pass at 5,416 m high, the highest spot of the adventure with sweeping panoramic views of mountains and dramatic landscapes.

This wonderful trek begins with an interesting drive from Kathmandu to reach warmer areas of Lamjung at Besisar town and unto Syange and Jagat farm village and then walking higher with marvelous views of snow clad peaks reaching at dry and barren high and beautiful Manang valley, where you will be within old Buddhist culture amidst high mountains exploring its rich traditions around Tal Besi-Dharapani-Chame town- Pisang and Manang villages.

From Manang our route diverts off the main Annapurna circuit trail heading towards remote and isolated destination on the hidden areas of Manang valley at Tilicho Lake, here with enjoyable time on the sacred emerald colored Tilicho, surrounded with high peaks of Tilicho and Gangapurna Himal.With enjoyable and pleasant moment walk leads back to join the main trail on Annapurna circuit trail to reach at Jomsom on crossing high Thorang-La pass for the flight to Pokhara. Guideline Itinerary:

 

Day 01:Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Day 02:In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.

Day 03:Drive to Nagdi 1,100m via Besisahar - 07 hrs.

Day 04:Trek to Shree Chaur 1,640 m on route Tal Besi - 07 hrs.

Day 05:Trek to Tal Besi 1,760 m - 06 hrs.   

Day 06:Trek to Danaque 2,100 m - 06 hrs. 

Day 07:Trek to Chame 2,720 m - 06 hrs.

Day 08:Trek to Pisang 3,190 m - 05 hrs.

Day 09:Trek to Manang 3,540m - 05 hrs.

Day 10:Acclimatization day at Manang with short hikes.

Day 11:Trek to Khangsar 3,734 - 05 hrs.

Day 12:Trek to Tilicho Base Camp 4, 800 m - 06 hrs.

Day 13:Trek to Tilicho Lake 4,140 m and back to Shree Kharka 3,640 - 07 hrs.

Day 14:Trek to Churi Ledar 4,290m - 05 hrs.

Day 15:Trek to Thorang- La High Camp 4,450m - 05 hrs.

Day 16:Cross Thorang La 5,416m | 17,769 ft and trek to Muktinath 3,800 m-08 hrs.

Day 17:Trek to Jomsom 2,715 m - 05 hrs.

Day 18:Fly to Pokhara and transfer to hotel by the Lake Phewa.

Day 19:Drive or fly back to Kathmandu afternoon at leisure.                   

Day 20:International Departure Homeward bound.

 

Detail Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, received by our staff and then transfer to your respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed our guide briefs with information regarding Tilicho Lake Trekking, lodge on route with do and don’ts with evening group welcome dinner.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
A free day in Kathmandu to relieve you from jetlag on long flights, our morning sightseeing tour starts after breakfast in the hotel, where you will be engrossed with tour around world heritage sites around Kathmandu visiting Old Durbar (palace) Square, and ancient stupa of Swayambhunath, after a tour head back to hotel with preparation for Tilicho Lake Trekking around Annapurna.

(other options on tour of Hindu Holy Temple of Pashupatinath dedicated to Lord Shiva and Bouddhanath large Buddhist Stupa the area also known as Little Tibet)

Day 03: Drive to Nagdi 1,100m via Besisar - 06 hrs.

Starting this wonderful adventure with an interesting overland drive towards Nepal mid west, leading to Besisar town (headquarter of Lamjung district). From here transfer to another vehicle and continue drive on dirt road passing villages of Khudi, Bulbule to reach at Nagdi village following Marshyangdi River upstream.This is a nice small farm village with rice paddy fields and terraced farms which houses several small and nice lodges for overnight stay.

Day 04: Trek to Shree Chaur 1,640 m on route Tal Besi - 05 hrs.
From here our first day walk begins following the Marsyangdi River towards Syange a small village and then uphill on leaving Marshyangdi River behind to reach at Jagat village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers.After Jagat walk leads on winding path to Chamje, and back at Marshyangdi River crossing to east side into forested area, with super views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges to end the day walks at a small place of Shree Chaur.

Day 05: Trek to Tal Besi 1,760 m - 05 hrs.     
Morning continues towards a nice village at Tal Besi, from here another 4-5 hours walk leads to our overnight destination at Tal Besi on gradual trail with few ups and down following the raging Marsyangdi River upstream to reach a nice green valley with waterfalls at Tal Besi. Tal Besi is the starting point of Manang district with time in the afternoon to browse around this lovely village of Buddhist culture and age-old traditions.

Day 06: Trek to Danaque 2,100 m - 06 hrs.   
After a pleasant overnight stop at Tal Besi where Manang area starts heading further North towards Dharapani village, a nice large village located on the junction of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.From Dharapani with lunch break walk leads into cool and lovely rhododendron and pine forest passing villages of Bagarchap to reach at Danque with much Buddhist cultured village includes views of Mt. Manaslu 8,163m / 26,781ft and Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. Danaque village with many orchards filled with peach-apricot and apples trees.

Day 07:Trek to Chame 2,720m - 05 hrs.

From Danaque village walking uphill towards Timang village with amazing views of Manaslu-Lamjung and Annapurna II, as the walk slowly reaches another large village at Timang for possible lunch stop.After a refreshing break few hours trek leads to Koto and then to Chame town for overnight stop, Chame a large major town of Manang area and a head quarter town of the district.

Day 08: Trek to Pisang 3,190 m - 05 hrs.
From Pisang onwards walk leads close to mountains through alpine forests of rhododendron and pine trees, following Marshyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhratang village. From Bhratang village walk follows uphill through alpine woodland to Dhukure Pokhari a small place with few teahouses and lodge overlooking Chulu’s and Pisang peak, with possible lunch stop, and then descends to lower Pisang village for overnight stop.

Day 09:  Trek to Manang 3,540 m - 04 hrs.

Morning views of mountains, from here onward altitude gains as the walk leads through forest with short uphill and views of Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu’s and Pisang peak.
Walk downhill to reach flat valley at Hongde village, from here onward tree lines fades for barren, arid landscapes with cold, dry arctic climate.Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk reaches at Manang village.

Day 10:  Acclimatization day at Manang with short hikes

A necessary rest day at Manang for acclimatization before reaching higher areas to Tilicho and Mesokanto-la pass, in Manang short hike around Manang village, this is a large village situated on windswept valley by the bank of Marshyangdi River below Annapurna and Gangapurna mountain range, a nice walk uphill for views of Gangapurna Glacier and Manang glacial Lake. 

Day 11: Trek to Khangsar 3,734 - 05 hrs.

After Manang village morning walk leads to another highlight of this trip, as our route diverts from main Annapurna circuit trail reaching one of the last village of Manang at Khangsar for overnight stop which lies on route to Tilicho Lake.

Day 12: Trek to Tilicho Base Camp 4, 800 m - 04 hrs.
Morning walk heads towards our main destination of the adventure on route Tilicho in perfect wilderness with constant scenery of windswept beautiful terrain and snow capped peaks of Tilicho and Gangapurna at close distance.

Slowly our day walk ends on reaching at Tilicho Base Camp which close to the beautiful emerald Lake of Tilicho for overnight stop in the comfort of nice and cozy lodge.
Day 13:       Trek to Tilicho Lake 4,140 m and back to Shree Kharka 3,640 - 06 hrs.
From here onwards around dry and arid country, morning walk heading downhill for some time, with short climb to reach at Tilicho Lake shore to conclude one of our main highlight of this adventure. Tilicho Lake considered a holy lake by both Hindu's and Buddhist religions, this beautiful spot offers awesome views of snowcapped peaks, here after lunch return journey with uphill walk past Tilicho Base Camp to reach a small lonely spot at Shree Kharka for overnight stop.

Day 14: Trek to Churi Ledar 4,290m - 04 hrs.
After a wonderful time in the quiet and peaceful areas around Tilicho Lake, our morning walk leads with much climb to reach back on main Annapurna circuit trek with amazing views as the walk on crossing a small stream reaching at Yak Kharka settlement with number of lodge.From here an hour walk leads you to our overnight stop in Churi Ledar facing grand views of Gangapurna and Chuli West peaks with Annapurna III.

Day 15:  Trek to Tharung- La High Camp 4,450 m - 04 hrs.

Morning walk lead to more high elevation getting closer at the base of Thorang-la after crossing a bridge with a climb along the river bank of Jarjung, finally walk leads at Thorang Phedi, here depending upon the physical conditions of the clients, if all goes well an hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for overnight stop.

Day 16: Cross Thorang La 5,416m | 17,769 ft and trek to Muktinath 3,800 m - 06 hrs.
One of the highlight and Big Day of this adventure! After early breakfast walk leads to a long climb to Thorang-la on steep winding path to reach Thorang La Pass at 5,416 m / 17,769 ft.The highest point of the adventure with views of snowcapped peaks, and then with long descends to reach at holy Muktinath around Lower Mustang area.On reaching Muktinath for overnight stop, this is a holy spot for both Hindus and Buddhists the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 17: Trek to Jomsom 2,715 m - 04 hrs.

After Muktinath, rest of the journey is easier with moderate walks all the way with a big drop of 1,200 m downhill to Kaligandaki river valley, this pleasant walk leads to Kaligandaki river valley to reach at Jomsom, a headquarter town of Mustang area with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River.  Jomsom located on the famous and ancient Trans-Himalayan Salt and Caravan Route of Nepal and Tibet-China beyond Upper Mustang.A charming place with white painted houses, paved streets and well kept lodges and hotels here celebrate with local apple products cider, brandy and juice, around this area within Kaligandaki valley famous for delicious apples.

Day 18: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara 860 m - 20 mins flight.
Early breakfast and transfer to Jomsom airport for sweeping short flight of 25 minutes to Pokhara, during airborne spectacular views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris and Annapurna range of mountains with rolling hills dotted with farm villages.On reaching Pokhara airport transfer to respective hotels by the serene lake Phewa, afternoon free for individual activities or just relax and enjoy the views of the Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 19: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
Morning a scenic drive to back Kathmandu with grand memories of this fantastic and exciting  Tilicho Lake trekking around Annapurna area, an interesting six hour brings you back in Kathmandu with afternoon free at leisure for shopping souvenirs .

Day 20:  International departure homeward bound.
Your last day in amazing Nepal in the land of Himalayan wonders, after wonderful experience and fond memories of Tilicho Lake Trekking around great Annapurna Himalaya, our staff transfer you to airport as per your time for international flight for your final departure towards homeward bound.

The following are what we advise you obtain in the way of equipment and gear before trekking in Nepal, and are meant to keep you mobile and comfortable in a range of expected weather conditions. Trekking gear can be rented or purchased in Kathmandu at cheaper prices, remember Nepal is the home of Mount Everest, there is plenty of choice and our staff can assist you with the necessary arrangements. Except for your day pack, all luggage will be carried by porters. There is an allowance of 33lbs/15kg per person. Additional personal items not needed for the trekking portion of the trip can be checked in the hotel’s storage room for no extra cost.
