Details Itinerary

Your first impression of arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport is an experience in itself. But don’t be worried by the apparent confusion as your airport representative will be waiting to welcome you with your name written on a placard. Depending on traffic, you will be at your hotel within 20 minutes or so.

You have time to relax and enjoy the ambiance and comfort of the hotel until your evening Group Meeting. This is when we collect your insurance details and discuss how the trip will run for the coming days. After the meeting, we go for our first group dinner. Your tour leader will take you to a traditional Nepali restaurant in Thamel.

A free day in Kathmandu to relieve you from jetlag on long flights. our morning sightseeing tour (optional) starts after breakfast in the hotel, where you will be engrossed with the tour around world heritage sites around Kathmandu visiting Old Durbar (palace) Square, and ancient stupa of Swayambhunath, after the tour back to hotel and preparation for the trek.

Morning flight to Lukla with views of mountain range including Mt. Everest, after 30 mins of great flight reaching at Lukla with its unique airstrip, a gateway Sherpa town to Everest base camp and other adventure destination.

From Lukla walk to Phakding village leading past Sherpa farm villages, a nice and pleasant walk with few short ups overlooking beautiful views along the walk to Phakding village located by Dudh Koshi, a glacial River.

After breakfast, we head to Namche Bazaar (3440 m.). The trail follows the right bank of Dudh Koshi. Thamserku peaks stand majestically skyward on the opposite bank.

We reach Benkar, as the trail climbs from the riverbed on the left bank of Dudh Koshi River into the mountain through a forest to Chumoa. We continue along the trail with many ups and downs; cross a stream, and pass by the tiny village Monjo.

We then come to Sagarmatha National Park where a park entrance fee is to be deposited. We follow a short walk along the riverbed of this valley where the major river meets each other. Crossing over a high Hillary bridge, the trek begins with a steep ascent to Namche Bazar.

On the way, facing excellent views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m) surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges will welcome you to Namche Bazaar (3440m). It is a central hub of the Khumbu region for food, trekking gears, and other necessary goods. This is probably the most vibrant place on earth with many eateries, bars, and shops at an altitude of 34440 m. Overnight at Namche.

Namche Bazaar is at 3,440m and on this day we reach as high as 3880 m the Everest View Hotel. The key idea of getting proper acclimatization is reaching higher altitude and resting at a lower altitude. We will hike towards the Everest View Hotel. The scenery of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Tabuche, Amadablam, Thamserku, Kwangde, etc. mesmerizes this acclimatization hiking. If time permits, we will visit the mountain museum as well as Shyangboche Airport which is the highest situated airport in the world.

We will again come back to Namche Bazaar for the overnight. Enjoy free time in the evening strolling around the marketplace. You will love the eateries and bars of the Namche Bazaar. This is a perfect chance to experience the daily lifestyle of famous mountain people the Sherpa.

From Namche on the gradual scenic path with downhill to Imjatse river at Phungi Thanga for lunch, and then uphill through rhododendron, pines, firs tree forest with views of snowcapped peaks.

On reaching Thyangboche, we will visit the famous Buddhist monastery. The place is blessed with a magnificent panorama of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Thamserku, Kwande and majestic Amadablam.

With Mt. Amadablam on the backdrop and beautiful valley of Pangboche in front including the gigantic Mt. Everest, the stay in Thyangboche can be momentous and picturesque. You will be able to capture the lower trekking portion as well as upper trekking portion of Everest Base Camp Trek route. Overnight at Thyangboche

We descend through the forest to Debuche and a little further on we cross the rushing Imja Khola, whose valley we now follow. Climbing steadily the trail enters Pangboche, at 3,900m, the highest permanent settlement in this valley. Ascending the valley, we have lunch at Shomare, after which we leave the trees behind and cross a wooden bridge at the confluence of the Khumbu and Imja Khola. A short steep climb brings us to Dingboche, at 4,400m, a summer settlement where great peaks surround us.

The second scheduled rest day assists to your fitness with oxygen intake before proceeding higher elevation. We hike to Nangkartshang hill for acclimatization and view of the mountain panorama. From here enjoy views of Makalu (8,463m) fifth highest mountain with awesome views of Amadablam, Cholatse, Tabuche, Lhotse and the Imjatse valley.

From Dingboche, our walk leads to a ridge marked with prayer flags and Stupas, then walking on nice gradual uphill facing marvelous scenery to reach a small place in Thugla where Khumbu glaciers melt into a torrential river.

A perfect place for rest and lunch stop, where afternoon walks leads to a steep climb at Thugla hill a place with many memorials of unfortunate climbers around peaks of Khumbu and Everest. The walk continues for another few hours on nice gradual up to Lobuche for an overnight stop, a place with several nice lodges with views of Pumori, Nuptse and Lobuche peaks.

Today is the day of the great walk towards our main highlight and final destination the Everest Base Camp. As morning walk leads on the open wide valley with a slow climb to reach above Khumbu glaciers. We will walk through moraines towards Gorakshep, a place with few lodges on the junction of Everest base camp and Kala Patthar route.

Gorakshep used to be a base camp of Everest in the past 1950 to late 1970 before the route was made further 4-6 k.m to reach present base camp. From Gorakshep few hours walk over moraine and glacier to reach our ultimate destination at base camp with sweeping views of giant peaks of Nuptse-Lo la, Nuptse with notorious huge Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers. In high mountaineering season, this place will be active with climbers and crews with many camps set on top of moraine and glaciers.

After a grand time, we then head back to Gorakshep for the highest overnight stop of the adventure with fantastic memories of the day walks to Everest base camp.

After spectacular day yesterday reaching the Everest Base Camp today is another milestone day of our trek. Early in the morning, we hike to Kalapathar (5545 m). We need to rush towards hill top for the mesmerizing sunrise view. Gazing the sun rising through the casement of mountains including the Mt. Everest is a joyous experience to collect in our memory tale. The panoramic view of mountains like Nuptse, Pumori, Lhotse, Everest, Amadablam, Cholatse, Tabuche, Changtse, Lo-la, Lingtren, Khumbutse and many more can be seen from the top.

We will then descend to Gorakshep for breakfast. The day's trekking is also called an unwinding trip as the altitude decreases and oxygen level increases. We will reach to Pheriche (4200 m) for the overnight sleep.

The return journey is much easier losing heights every hour. Today we lose approximately 760 m in elevation. After a short climb to Pheriche pass, walk downhill with few tiny short ups to reach Pangboche and then descend to Imja River after crossing suspension bridge trek through the cool forested area to Debuche and then half an hour uphill to Tengboche.

We descend through pine and Rhododendron forest t0 Phungki Thanga where we can spot mountains goats, pheasants, and other wild animals and birds common to the area. After crossing the bridge over Imja Khola second time, the path eventually goes up to Sanasa (Khumbu Junction) from where we can enjoy views of Amadablam, Thamserku and Nuptse mountains then we walk on smooth trails made by Pasang Sherpa all way to Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

After breakfast, we trek toward the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then pass through several local villages. Our arrival in Lukla brings an evening in our last Tea House and, traditionally, a party with your trekking crew: you made it! Thanks to great teamwork and perseverance, you’ve accomplished a physical feat of which others only dream. This is your last night on the mountain, which can be bittersweet.

From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff transfers you back to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.

Your last day in amazing Nepal in the land of Himalayan wonders, after wonderful experience and fond memories of Everest Base Camp trekking, our staff transfer you to the airport as per your time for an international flight for your final departure towards homeward bound.

Trip Name: Short Poon Hill Trek

Booked this trek from the comfort at home in the UK. Communication with Dil was brilliant, his response to all my emails were quick and courteous. He tailored the trek around us, as a small group of 4 adults ranging in age from 29 to 69 (who was still recovering from an ACL op last May). His pace was brilliant for our group.

Dil arranged to meet us in our hotel in Kathmandu and talked us through the trek, bringing maps, holdalls and T-Shirts.

The trek was for 3 nights, 4 days staying in good, clean lodges. All was included except our drinks.

We experienced trekking in glorious sunshine up to Poon Hill. There was still snow on the ground and Dil provided the group with crampons, which made walking easier and safer.

Our trek started and ended in Pokhara. Dil and his team collected us from our hotel in Pokhara promptly at the time agreed.

Dil and the porters were brilliant, the porters were more than porters and made our trek even more enjoyable. We felt totally safe and Dil was an excellent guide. The scenery was spectacular.
